Wow.
Being a mommy and a blogger isn't working out for me. Sorry, to those of you actually reading these posts! The perfectionistic writer in me finds it hard to sit down and post on just a few minutes here and there each day, which turns into no blogging at all.
Buuut, seeing as how there is much to catch up on, I thought I would ditch my perfectionism for one evening and just quickly catch everyone up on the craziness that is our life!
First item up...Aaron is 7 months old (well, 7.5 months...but at least I'm getting it in before the 8th month!).
He's continuing to grow like a weed and simply lights up my life so much. I love him to pieces and feel oh.so.blessed to wake up everyday and be his Mama.
* He's weighing in at about 17 lbs, wearing mainly 6-9 month clothing, so finally on track!
* He's a marathon sitter...he can sit well over an hour without getting tired and falling over.
* He isn't crawling...yet...but he scoots in circles on his tummy to get to all his toys and lunges forward to practice his "crawl".
* No teeth, yet (but one is one the way)!
* He's eating like a champ; his favorites continue to be avocado, sweet potato, and pear.

* He LOVES the outdoors so we go on lots of walks and "picnics" on our front lawn.
* He's finally sleeping 11-12 hours!! Whoooo!! He personally thinks 6:15am is a grand time to wake up for the day but, thankfully, he plays contentedly in his crib until I go to get him between 6:45-7am.
* Loving that he is known as the "super smiley" baby! So nice, after the rough start we had with him. He loves interacting with others and has a smile for anyone he comes across. And his personality is oh.so.awesome. He's such a goofball!
* He gives kisses now and loves to cuddle with us...the best feeling in the world is to hold him, with his arm wrapped around my neck, twirling my hair, as he puts his head on my shoulder. Wouldn't trade that feeling for the world!
And, the biggest milestone that Month 7 has brought with it...
Aaron is a BIG BROTHER!!!!
That's right...we are pregnant!
(For those of you instantly calculating, that makes them 15 months apart!)
To say we are shocked is putting it mildly.
After waiting TWO YEARS for Aaron, we did not think Little Lessa #2 would be on their way after only a few months of trying.
And to clarify; YES, we WERE trying. Baby #2 was in no way an "oops" or a "we didn't think it would happen so fast." While we were, indeed, surprised at how quickly #2 followed, we weren't naive to think baby COULDN'T come.
I think the surprise came from the fact that we had no expectations this time around and we were too busy loving on our son that we weren't consumed with the question of whether this month would be THE month.
Want the short version of how I knew I was pregnant?
A dog on my lap.
?????
Serious. We were hanging out all weekend with Brandon's family and as we were just sitting around, passing time, my in-law's dog came over, settled down on my lap, and was content to just lay on me for an hour or so. Now, this is one hyper dog who would rather jump all over you and lick you to death, than sit still. Not to mention, I am not much of a dog person, and I think they sense it so they aren't prone to cuddle up with me.
However, that got me thinking. The only time this dog ever cuddled with me was when I was pregnant with Aaron. Didn't cuddle before; hasn't cuddled since.
Cue two hours later and a wave of exhaustion hit me so hard that I found it difficult to even hold my son.
When I mentally put those two things together, I became curious.
On our way home, I told Brandon that I felt these were pretty strong signs but, I wasn't "late" enough so it was probably all coincidence.
Fast forward to Memorial Day, with no period in sight, so we walked down to the local pharmacy, picked up a few tests, and went home.
Needless to say, when that test read positive, I was blown away and I think my first words were "oh no!"
We sat in complete shock for a good half hour and, although we are processing it better now, it is still so.surreal.
TWO years of waiting and now? TWO babies in TWO years???
February 2011 I found out I was pregnant with Aaron; February 2013 I will give birth to our second child. Amazing!
I say it every post and I'll say it again. Blessed. Blessed. BLESSED.
